Dan Jirus Sr. and Jr.

I started racing at Oswego back in 1971. I was Brute Eliminator in 1975 and still have the Coke-Cola jacket they gave me and still fits. In 1976 I ran 2 cars, my favorite 63 falcon sprint named Buttons The Berwyn Dog a name my Dad gave the car and a 65 mustang fastback with a 440 6 pack which ran 10:37 best. I'd like to find that car. I wish I never sold it. I sold it to someone in Wauconda. I'd like to get it back! I raced at Oswego till it closed in 1979. Then started racing at U.S.30,41 in Indiana, and of course DA GROVE ha ha but not as often. With my first wife I had 4 children. She always at the end hated my cars so I said things must leave in reverse so the first to go was her. I remarried in 1998 and had 1 more child a boy now 5 years old along with a stepdaughter, now 7 years old. My oldest daughter 32 years old has a 67 GTO. My oldest son 29 years old has the silver Nova. For the Falcon I'm going to redo her a little this year. I launched my motor getting it ready for the World of Wheels in 2003. I want or I need to install a set of axle floaters in and cage it. I've started to think about a motor but just not sure yet. I've always driven a 4 speed but am thinking about an auto w/trans brake. I can't wait to get it together so I can show the younger one how its done. It would be neat to race against him. Let me know the dates so I can attend. Looking forward to meeting you and the rest. Thanks again. Dan

I was born in 1975.  My first trip down the quarter mile was in a late seventies blue Ford pickup when I wasn't even 5 years old.  I was hooked.  That was our tow vehicle back when everyone used a tow vehicle and I rode shotgun next to my grandpa when we would go after my Dad.  Now I'm 29 years old and married to the most lovely woman Janae, and we have the prettiest little girl Ariana who is 4.  I started building my first car at 19 and have been working on the nova for about 6 years.  I just want to say thanks to my Dad who got me dreaming and thanks to the friends who helped me build that dream.  Brian Scott, Wayne Stuit, and Chris Jones whose pride and time make this as much their car as it is mine.  (If this car should burst into flames-Jones did the wiring.)  As far as my Dad goes the older he gets the faster he was- 10.37 e.t. ?

Thanks Dan J Jirus IV
