Dave Crane

I've been a gasser guy since the 1960's.  I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA in 1967 and spent many Saturday's at Lions.  Got out of the service in 1970, and immediately built a straight axle Chevy II (327 4-speed) squirrelly and fun.   Ran it at Union Grove and I'm still amazed I survived.  I've been a shoe box Chevy guy since High School.  Have restored a number of them.  Vowed to build a gasser for years and finally did.  My 55 is an old gasser out of California.  I bought it as a battered yet solid rolling shell 3 years ago.  I did a frame off restoration on it.  Did everything myself except the front seat cover.  Painted it in my garage.  It's just a small block 4-speed but man does it bring back memories when people see it.  Rides shitty, steers hard, but is it cool to drive.  Look forward to meeting more gasser guys, and possibly owning a Willys coupe some day.
