I live in Franksville, Wisconsin. I am a 41 year old body
and auto repair shop owner and have loved Willy's coupes since I first saw the
movie "Hot Rod" as a sophomore in high school in 1979. I have built and drag
raced cars for years. Some might remember in the late 80's-early 90's my 1969
Torino GT at Union Grove and also street racing. It was turquoise with a white
interior, poverty caps and full exhaust with "Dr. Ford" on the Wisconsin license
plate. The car ran a best of 9.97 at 138mph and weighed 4080 pounds.
My Willys steel coupe is from Illinois. It had a 392 Hemi, Muncie and a 1957
Pontiac rear. The color was black and it had a 1940 glass clip when purchased.
Since then, my 12 year old son and I boxed the frame and added crossmembers. I
bought a 1941 sedan for the nice steel front clip. The car now has a 514" Ford,
8-71 Hampton blower, Hilborn 4-port and scoop. The transmission is a fully
roller C-6 and the rear is a new strange 9" Ford. My future plans include
electronic fuel injection, reproduction steel doors and rear fenders (to make it
all steel), paint and hopefully a lot of seat time! |
