There are
actually three Stude Dudes, Stacy, Bruce and Randy. Team owner,
father and part time driver Stacy Tettemer has been involved in
drag racing since the middle 60's. First with street cars, then
teaming up with Dick Hedrick and buying Doug Thorley's "Chevy 2 Much".
Married to wife Nancy for 35+ years, they spent 10 years traveling around
as Chaplain with NHRA Div 3. He has also been part of the pit crew
for Mike Faser's "Chicago Fire" funny car and fuel altered, Zizzo Family
Racing's, father and son Top Alcohol dragsters and can be heard announcing
at Route 66 Tue TNT or singing the National Anthem if needed.
The
current car, a 1954 Studebaker Commander was purchased in 2004. This
unique ride maintains the original steel body, has been shortened 18", and
wheelbase altered. In 2004 trim it was capable of mid 9 sec
performance. Over the winter we have replaced the steel front end
with a light weight (200 lbs lighter) front clip and added cu. in. to the
alcohol injected SBC that powers it. We are looking to be in the 8's
this year.
Regular
driver and son Bruce Tettemer has finished in the top ten at Route
66 Dragway in Joliet 7 of the last 8 years. With a year of a new car
behind him look for him to return to top 10 form in 2005.
Bruce's
older brother Randy Tettemer has become a valuable part of
the team. He is responsible for the bodywork and new dark purple
paint. He also takes an occasional turn at the wheel.
Stop by
and say Hi when you're at the track. I don't know if we're the only
purple car with a hot pink parachute, but I'm sure we're the only altered
wheelbase Studebaker in those colors. |
